WHO WE ARE
The St. Augustine Sertoma Club is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of St. Johns County, Florida. We take our mandate to help those in need seriously and it is our solemn pledge to our community that every penny we raise stays in St. Johns County. No one is immune to having difficulties arise that can sometimes immobilize a family, leaving them feeling hopeless and seemingly without remedy. This is where the Sertoma Club of Saint Augustine comes in. We have the resources to provide them with the assistance they need and deserve. We also work in tandem with other charitable organizations and find ways of partnering with them so that collectively, we can have the greatest community impact.
The Sertoma Club is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization registered with the Internal Revenue Service. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
MISSION STATEMENT
Sertoma is a non-profit organization dedicated to the betterment of those less fortunate and specifically those with medical or financial needs provided that all monies spent stay in St. Johns County Florida. Through many fundraising efforts and the generosity of our local community, Sertoma’s financial outreach serves locals who fall through social safety nets, identifies local civic needs and Sertoma works with other local charities to fulfill their goals. Members of Sertoma believe in the compassion and sacrifice of the human spirit and the devotion to good causes through financial discipline and sheer will power and faith in one another.
OUR HISTORY
Sertoma Inc. is an organization of service clubs founded on April 11, 1912. For more than 100 years, volunteers known as Sertomans have served communities across the United States. Originally known as Co-Operative International, each member takes pride in the colorful history of the Co-Operative Club International and Sertoma International. This history is based upon information gleaned from old SERTOMAN and THE CO-OPERATOR magazines on file at Sertoma Headquarters.
The name Sertoma is an acronym for Service to Mankind and the organization has over 500 clubs throughout the United States and Canada. Sertoma Inc.’s primary focus is on assisting the more than 50 million people with hearing health issues and educating the public on the issues surrounding hearing health. Clubs also sponsor community projects to assist youth, and to benefit a variety of other local community needs as identified by individual clubs.
The St. Augustine Sertoma Club focuses on assisting the residents of St. Johns County who have an immediate need. Our club has been in existence for almost 40 years and we’re proud to have made a difference for our friends and neighbors in need!
